Addressing Noise Pollution Issues
The dining area of Glenstal Abbey faced significant issues with noise pollution and audio-sensory discomfort, impacting both residents and visitors.
The need for an acoustic solution was evident, along with an aesthetic update to the outdated ceiling design.
The challenge was to find a solution that would balance functionality with the abbey’s architectural integrity.
Wood Grain Natural Finish
Calmtone Ceiling Baffles offer a balanced acoustic performance coupled with custom designs. These baffles are made of recycled polyester and feature a wood grain print that creates a natural look without compromising sound absorption. This design ensures a seamless integration with the existing decor.

Aesthetic and Acoustic Improvements
The implementation phase included the development of technical and 3D drawings, alongside sample production, allowing the stakeholders to fully visualise the proposed solution’s impact on the abbey.
This preparatory work was crucial in demonstrating the potential for a significant improvement in both the space’s aesthetics and its acoustic environment.
The final outcome was a dining area that maintained the abbey’s historical character while providing a modern solution to the noise issue, illustrating the successful integration of practical needs with the aesthetic values of the space.
